Case Study 1 – FINANCE INTERNSHIP

JOB TITLE: Financial Modelling Analyst

REPORTS TO: Managing Director

JOB SUMMARY:

The intern will work closely with the business partners to successfully develop new real estate specific financial models, serviced apartment operational models and research prospective clients and properties. The intern will be responsible for helping to develop and execute a robust set of working financial models for the hospitality, serviced apartment and apart-hotel maker for potential & current clients and partnerships.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Developing new real estate specific financial models, for the residential, Private Rented Sector, Serviced Apartment and Apart-Hotel operational models

• Models include detailed IRR and CapEx models, operational operator models, income forecasts and capital appreciation models for our existing and prospective clients and their properties

• The objective will be to develop and deliver new 5/10/15 and 25-year models to better report to existing clients, prospective clients and for internal capital value calculations

PLACEMENT STRUCTURE:

One-week internal induction with time spent understanding the companies, the individual staff roles and training within each department. The objective will be to meet the individuals involved and understand the communication between the departments and with our clientele. The final day of training will be familiarising with the internal procedures, processes and systems. Each department head will provide a Q&A to ensure that the intern has grasped all aspects of the training. Post the initial induction, a weekly meeting will be held with the supervisor to ensure that clear and timetabled projects and deadlines are adhered to.

Case Study 2 – MARKETING INTERNSHIP

JOB TITLE: Marketing Intern

REPORTS TO: Sales and Marketing Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

To analyse and research the international market for serviced offices / business centres / co-working spaces with the view of increasing the current network of affiliate business centres to 200 centres.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • To work closely with the CEO on various start-ups and international network projects
  • Identify all the main serviced offices and co-working operators worldwide
  • Shortlist the potential affiliate centres in the countries/cities with no or weak eOffice affiliate presence
  • Promote the eOffice eNetwork programme to the shortlisted centres and maximise the number of centres joining the programme
  • Analyses other competing network programmes in existence
  • Refine and improve the eOffice eNetwork affiliate programme

PLACEMENT STRUCTURE:

Phase 1: The intern will go through the companies on boarding and orientation process, this will include a skill assessment of understanding word/excel and being able to use different CRM programs. The projects will be listed, and work will be done accordingly to ensure the intern is self-assured to take on specific tasks.

Phase 2: Once the intern’s strengths and training need have been established, each will be focused on by having the intern shadow members of the International Team where they will have the opportunity to add more substance to the site and initiate calls to potential partners.

Phase 3: The intern should have developed skills to be able to carry out some independent work within the International Network where they will assist with building the network and helping with events and coordinate agreements.

Phase 4: During the final phase the intern will work towards a final evaluation and presentation of their tasks in ensure they have established a full understanding of the International and Start Up network.

Case Study 3 – PR/ADVERTISING INTERNSHIP

JOB TITLE: PR, Product & Marketing Internships

REPORTS TO: Director

JOB SUMMARY:

Interns are an integral part of a small and friendly team and will work closely with the PR, Marketing and Product team, developing both online and offline projects as well as learning new skills in wellness tourism: the fastest growing sector in the travel industry. The internship will give you a window across what it’s like to work for a busy online travel company who sells wellness holidays.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Assist in newsletter creation and articles
  • Writing for print publication for various PR & Marketing stories
  • Assisting with the growth and development of the company’s social media
  • Assisting with marketing campaigns and new projects
  • Liaising with multi-national suppliers
  • Research potential contributors and brands to work with
  • Writing blogs to be published on the website

PLACEMENT STRUCTURE

The intern will work alongside of PR & Marketing team to develop both online and offline projects as well as learning new skills in wellness tourism. They will go through an initial introduction period where they will be set certain writing tasks with immediate feedback.

Phase 1: The intern will be briefed on the brand, their PR & Marketing strategy and understand their processes. Their writing skills and initiative will be evaluated during this stage.

Phase 2: They will assist the Product, PR & Marketing teams working with them on specific projects, which will give them the opportunity to develop further skills in writing, social media, media relations, newsletters and copywriting.

Phase 3: The intern will be able to carry out independent work in these areas, whilst still having ongoing daily supervision and regular catch ups.

Phase 4: In the final phase the intern will work towards a final internship review and evaluation. They will have gained lots of experience in key areas and should now be confident with key skills they have learnt.

Case Study 4 – FASHION MARKETING INTERNSHIP

JOB TITLE: E-commerce and Marketing Intern

REPORTS TO: E-commerce Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

The intern will be working with e-commerce & marketing manager for assisting with online and marketing activities. Assisting with writing copy for social media, website content and product descriptions, assistance with reporting and web requests.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Gain understanding of how a fashion company operates
  • Gain understanding of what an e-commerce/marketing role entails
  • Assistance on photoshoots and campaign periods
  • Assisting with visual asset creation
  • Will learn skills such as excel, website management, e-commerce software, online marketing processes

PLACEMENT STRUCTURE

Month 2: More preparation for AW19 runway show, working on liaising with influencers, working on marketing strategy, asset creation, email and social media assistance, website set up, affiliate marketing assistance, photoshoot assistance.

Month 3: Customer VIP outreach, presale preparation, assisting with writing copy for social media, website content and product descriptions.

Month 4: Prefall preparation, affiliate marketing set up for period.

Case Study 5 – HR/RECRUITMENT INTERNSHIP

JOB TITLE: Recruitment Intern

REPORTS TO: Director

JOB SUMMARY:

The company provides temporary and permanent staff to a variety of sectors. The intern will be working closely with the Manager looking after the Catering/Hospitality/Industrial sectors. The intern will have the opportunity of learning how a temp desk is run which will include learning interviewing skills and how to generate new business.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • To gain an overview of how a recruitment agency works
  • To gain an overview of how to run a temp desk
  • Learn how to successfully source prospective candidates
  • Learn how to be competent in interviewing candidates both face to face and on the phone
  • Learn how to be competent in making sales calls

Week 1: Overview of the company and how a temp desk is run, answering the phone and dealing with basic enquiries, assisting with scanning, filing, faxing and photocopying.

Week 2: Drafting candidates and sourcing candidates.

Week 3: Telephone interviews with candidates.

Week 4: Shortlisting candidates and face to face interviews with candidates.

Week 5: How to check right to work documents and reference checking.

Week 6: Sourcing sales leads and sales calls. 

The remainder of time will be spent consolidating knowledge.

Case Study 6 – MEDIA/ENTERTAINMENT INTERNSHIP

JOB TITLE: Media Intern

REPORTS TO: Principal

JOB SUMMARY:

A four-month internship assisting in admin work for the company and the principal, the organisation of music & television events and assisting with contracts for entertainment industry events. Some travel may be required for this internship.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Video editing and logging of videos filmed
  • Making travel arrangements if events require travel, assisting at all times during events
  • Managing social media and assisting in PR opportunities for the company and the principal
  • Entertainment industry related research
  • Meeting and greeting all visitors to the company offices, acting as an ‘ambassador’ to the company
  • Participation in television, film and music production meetings

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Strong interest in the entertainment industry is required, with an advanced knowledge of pop culture
  • Ability to network with clients and potential clients
  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro, Microsoft Office, including Outlook Email
  • Able to exercise immense discretion and confidentiality while working in a high-profile environment
  • Knowledge of London itself and the ability to navigate throughout the city

Case Study 7 – ARTS INTERNSHIP

JOB TITLE: Research and Development Assistant

REPORTS TO: Studio Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

The intern will train in locating artist representation in a gallery, specifically receiving experience in locating a US gallery as well as in the development of US sales strategy and management. The intern will be trained and supervised in the co-ordination, promotion, communication and education resources of the exhibition, accompanying book and lecture series. The intern will also have the chance to train in the practise of artistic branding, website development, and social media experience in research and development.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Assisting in the production and development of a cohesive and comprehensive briefing document
  • Assisting in locating a US gallery to represent the owner in the United States
  • Realisation and implementation of global interfaith relations project
  • To have an understanding of the brand of the owner and assist in their artistic branding redevelopment

PLACEMENT STRUCTURE

Project 1 Goal: production and development of a cohesive and comprehensive briefing document outlining the proposed Obama book contents

Project 2 Goal: locating a US gallery to find representation for the owner in the United States

Project 3 Goal: to develop the 2018 US sales strategy

Project 4 Goal: realisation and implementation of Encounters press and marketing plan

Project 5 Goal: to have an understanding of the brand of the owner and assist her in her artistic branding redevelopment
